Stalked: Gloria Yu, Fashion Designer At Frieze Art Fair 2013

23 October 2013

Earlier in the week I promised you all Frieze stalkings and here is my first very stylish lady - Gloria Yu, a fashion designer that creates the coolest tops, for example the one she is wearing! Here's my 5 minutes with Gloria!

I remember you saying that you're a designer, how would describe your work? And why do you love your job?

In general for my ready to wear designs, comfort and humour are two key elements.... because you pretty much can't go wrong with them.
For my headpiece I guess I would describe them as romantic with an extra-terrestrial edge. I never get bored of getting inspired by nature because I haven't yet stop discovering new things about it and I am always fascinated by its organized chaos.
I love my job because I can't imagine doing anything else.

What was your favourite artist during frieze?
Whoever did the text art behind the 'General Waste' bins

How would sum up your style?
 Easy

Favourite store in London?

Mrs Kibble's Olde Sweet Shoppe on Brewer. Keeps me happy.

What 5 items can you not live without?
My keys, phone, tea, needle and thread

Her website is yunotme.com - I know I'll be ordering one of her leather tops very soon!

Frieze 2013 Recap

21 October 2013

It's that time of year again for that very large white tent to be erected in the middle of Regents Park, for the one of the worlds leading and most prestigious art fairs, Frieze!

I popped along on the Wednesday VIP preview for a sneaky peep and for a spot of style stalking amongst the art worlds coolest kids!

A spot of a real stalking here, this art collector was dressed head to toe in Burberry Prorsum!

Stalked: Melina Passari, Harrods Buyer

17 October 2013

Recently I stalked this beautiful fashionista during LFW, her long lace skirt caught my eye at first, then her shirt, then bag, then jewellery, all in all a perfectly styled chick!!

What do you do when your not at LFW? And what do you love about your job?

As a Buyer's Clerk at Harrods, I love the fact that we can choose what we think our customers are going to really love, clothes and accessories that are very Fashionable and represent us in the Best way.

What's your favourite part of LFW

I have 3 favourite parts of London Fashion Week!! A. the preparation and the whole ritual of getting ready, choosing what I am going to wear and how to accessories it B. The Street Style, as I love observing other people and their Style and C. the fabulous Fashion Shows, as I can see what all the amazing Designers have created for us.

Who is your favourite designer?

One of my favourite Designer right now is Mary Katrantzou, because except that the fact that she is a fellow Greek (Yeiii), she is an incredible Fashion Designer and artist. I really enjoyed the Peter Pilotto Spring Summer 2014 Fashion show. The Pastel colours were very sweet and feminine and the shapes very flattering.

Five items you can not live without?

I can not live without My iPhone (I need to have an Internet access though), my Yves Saint Lauren Arty rings (Gift from my incredible Boyfriend), High Heels (I spend the whole day in them), my Christian Dior Bronzer and Vogue (always stay up to date with the latest Fashion Trends)!!

Stalked: Summer Splash

15 October 2013

This was a very quick passing stalk as we both were running to different events, so sadly I never got to do my usual 5 minutes with this fashionable little lady! I loved her splash of bright colours and summer florals in these slightly colder winter days - instant smile factor!

Stalked: Billy Zane, Actor/Artist in Evelyn Yard

9 October 2013

Today I caught up with Billy Zane prior to his forthcoming exhibition, 'Seize The Day Bed' which commences from Thursday at the fashionable Fitzrovia gallery, Rook & Raven. You may all recognise Billy from iconic films such as Titanic and Dead Calm, but for the last 17 years he has been painting avidly both at home in LA and on sets around the world. I had the pleasure of catching up with him while he had a spare 10 minutes while setting up the show.

What was his main inspiration for seize the day bed? And what's the story behind the name?

I love wordplay and puns in particular. SEIZE THE DAY BED resonated as a curious philosophy as well. Urgent relaxation became a mandate when creating this collection because action painting, is actually quite meditative and a relaxing to me really.
