Designer Focus: Tessa Packard And Her Fat Free Gems
11 February 2015
Recently one of my favourite emerging jewellery designers, Tessa Packard, released her latest SS15 collection, and what a fun one it is! I caught up with her to sneak a peep at her sketch book and find out more about her latest collection, titled 'Fat Free'.
What was your main
inspiration?
English penny sweets
were the main source of inspiration, along with the Pop Art movement which
iconised the mundane or the perishable in a way never seen before, transforming
these objects into timeless and much sought after valuables.
Stalked: Sabrina Percy, Artist
9 February 2015
Recently I did a blog post for the yoga brand Lululemon, on the Chelsea born artist Sabrina Percy. This talented and very gorgeous lady was commissioned by
Lululemon to produce a piece of work for their new Kings Road store. She was
inspired by the quintessentially British aspects of the ‘Royal Borough’ and
even included traditional English animals with a comic edge, such as the yoga
posing pheasants, foxes, and stags.
I caught up with Sabrina for a coffee next to a log fire at
The Builders Arms, a homely pub just off the Kings Road to talk about her home
exercise regime, art and why she loves the versatility of her Lululemon
wardrobe.
How would you describe you style?
I would say my style is very laid back. It
has to be comfortable. If I’m not comfy and don’t feel comfortable wearing it,
then I’m probably not leaving the house. I think because of my Height (6”2), I
let the height do all the talking and let what I’m wearing take a back seat. If
I’m going out I always veer as close to smasual
(smart/casual) as I think I can get away with. Heels aren’t a no no, but
I want to be able to walk, dance and run if needs be.
Stalked: Sonny, Store Manager of Peter Werth
6 February 2015
If you haven't heard of the British store Peter Werth, then read on, because it's a brand that not only has very cool menswear designs but also has a very interesting story behind it.
Started in Islington, North London in 1975 Peter
Werth has been part of the British menswear landscape for almost 40 years. Known for it's knitwear amongst other items, it's latest collection references the
trend-setting Italian knitwear brands making a name for themselves in London
during the Swinging Sixties (the ones appropriated by the early Mods), as well
long-sleeved knitted polo shirts worn by early Peter Werth advocates, the Perry
Boys.
I caught up with Sonny, who loves working for the brand due to it's fantastic history with the Perry Boys and beautifully crafted clothing and footwear.
What do you do and why do you love your job?
Store manager at Peter Werth. I love my job as we have a great team at
the store and we also work closely with the design team - who are based not too
far from the area.
Stalking News: Selfridges Opens Its First Gender-Neutral Pop Up Store
4 February 2015
Listen up boys and girls, it's time for a spot of shopping together because on March 1st, Selfridges will open its first gender-neutral pop up store. The London luxury
retailer is pushing aside cultural normalities and launching a gender-neutral
pop-up department that will include spaces on three of its four
floors. It's called Agender. The unisex experience will also be included in Selfridges stores in Manchester and Birmingham.
"We want to take
our customers on a journey where they can shop and dress without limitations or
stereotypes," the store said in a statement. "A space where clothing
is no longer imbued with directive gender values, enabling fashion to exist as
a purer expression of 'self'."
Stalked: Owen Williams. Manager, Carhartt WIP
2 February 2015
Owen is the manager of one of Carhartt's most elevated stores in London, situated in the heart of Covent Garden amongst the trendy shops of Seven Dials. When I met Owen, there was something very cool about his raw street 'BMX' style, this kind of style I haven't actually captured before on the blog.
After London Collection Mens, I caught up with Owen on where he shops and eats around the area, and what he thinks of LCM?
What do you do and
why do you love your job?
Store manager of
Carhartt WIP, I love my job because of the
people and company.
