J Crew's Bid To Save The Bee's

If you haven't already heard the exciting news of J Crews latest UK venture, then I strongly suggest you read on.... As I type J Crew are embarking on a store opening to top all store openings, in the old location of Link of London in Sloane Square. They have acquired this 4,500 square-foot unit and have erected the most awesome vertical 'living' garden on the exterior of the building, designed to attract and promote pollination. Jenna Lyons, J Crew's president and executive creative director was inspired to partner up with Buglife, after seeing a documentary about our dying Bee population. This subject is incredibly close to my heart as well, my mother and I are known as the worker bees in our family, so anything with a bee on it I tend to get very excited!!!

Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing an industry sweetheart, with a career CV to beat all CVs!! From her first company
(a babysitting agency, age 10) to her first haunt/adventure as an international
model (Tokyo, age 14) fashion industry insider, expert, entrepreneur and broadcaster
Noelle has built up extensive knowledge and experience within fashion
and media. Noelle founded a diffusion brand with Zandra
Rhodes, OBE, marking the first time the icon designer has taken a
partnership in her 45 year career. Noelle’s success has
allowed her the freedom to pursue passions such as writing, blogging, and public
speaking. She contributes regularly to a variety of publications including Mail
on Sunday, VV, The Gent, acts as the celebrity blogger for Britain’s
leading department store House of Fraser, and speaks publicly for
the likes of the British Fashion Council.
What are you working on now and why do you love what you're doing?
My whole life – from the time I could understand basic things about life – has been about following my dreams. That’s a very difficult path – or at least for me it meant sacrifices, digging deep within yourself a lot, and dealing against high odds. This year, I feel I’m on course with my dream and it’s a deeply satisfying feeling. I get to be creative, be around creatives, and have the nice “wrapping paper” as I call it! Meaning the superficial benefits.

Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing one of my favourite fashion bloggers, the lovely Wendy Gilmore; the brains and beauty behind the blog Thank Fifi. By day I am PR and
Marketing Manager for bluebellgray, a Scottish interiors brand. It's always busy and always so full of
colour. The studio we work in and the
girls I work work with are a constant source of inspiration - no matter what I
wear to work nothing is off limits!

I think we're all a little guilty of participating in some way in the big London postcode war! If you live North, the thought of moving South sends shivers down your spin, if you live East going West is super un-cool, and so on!! So when I stumbled over this brand I simply had to track down one of the founders to find out more about her witty idea to design postcode bangles, for the likes of us who are very proud of where we live!

do you love your job?
I can proudly say, that I am Co-founder of the
luxury Jewellery brand Whistle & Bango along with my colleagues Rosie and Ashley. Shamelessly, the best part for me
personally is seeing something go from a casual mention; supported by a lot of
optimism, into a tangible vision and brand.
