Stalked: James Lakeland, Fashion Designer

My second male stalking for the week is the talented fashion designer James Lakeland, his latest collection is one that definitely warrants a shop.. my favourite - the blue furs, which can be worn over any jacket - one of these is certainly on my 'WANT' list!

What do you do and what’s cool about your job?

I am the Founder and Creative Director of the womenswear label James Lakleand. I’m lucky enough to love my job: for its variety; creativity; financial structure, which keeps me grounded; competitive edge, which keeps me motivated to continue to push boundaries and create something exceptional.

Tell me about your brand? Why did you start it?

My brand was born from a love of clothes. I wanted to find an outlet for my creativity and found an avenue for expression through womenswear. I started with a small knitwear line and from there have grown the label to what it is today. It has been a wholly nourishing and positive experience.

How would you describe your personal style?

I love simple but quality minimalistic fabrics and sharp cuts that give a sleek look without being over-imposing. I also have a bit of an obsession with super-ply cashmere scarves!

Who is your favourite menswear designer?

Prada for their fabrics, simple cuts, fine cashmere and high quality cotton shirts. What I particularly like is that the branding is understated, with quality that speaks for itself.

Where do you shop?

Corso Como 10 in Milan, Loft in Paris for its beautiful buy of cashmere knits, Matches in London and Moncler stores for outerwear, I’ve got a serious penchant for the label’s jackets!
